Meet Max Weber, our Volunteer of the Month from Karlsruhe, Germany.
Max is a veteran software engineer with more than 12 years of experience and one of the hosts of the popular YouTube channel Flutter Explained, followed by more than 39,000 subscribers. He first connected with Trufi in 2021, when he carried out an in-depth audit of Trufi Core — our highly configurable code foundation that enables cities and organizations to launch white-label public transportation apps tailored to local needs.
Max is Back!
Now Max has returned to help build and maintain the Trufi Core GitHub project.
His work spans three areas. First, he is defining and safeguarding the architectural quality of Trufi Core, ensuring it remains robust, scalable, and flexible enough to support diverse cities and use cases worldwide.
Second, he is developing Trufi’s process of continuous integration and continuous deployment automation (CI/CD) — automations that check, test, and safely prepare new software updates before they are released. This ensures that the improvements work as intended and that Trufi-powered apps remain stable, reliable, and ready for everyday use.
Third, Max leads development triage for the Core. He reviews incoming issues and feature requests, clarifies requirements, to help us prioritize what matters most — enabling or developers to focus immediately on impactful, well-defined problems.
Engineering for Impact — and Community
Beyond Trufi, Max is deeply committed to community service. He is a father of two, volunteers as a “wolfpack” leader with the scouts, and regularly reads stories to children through a “children’s book cinema.” These are the same values that drive his work with Trufi: inclusion, mentorship, and building systems that support people.
Max’s dedication ensures that Trufi’s open-source technology remains trustworthy, adaptable, and accessible — empowering cities in the Global South and beyond to build equitable, sustainable mobility solutions.
