Anahi Gonzalez

Volunteer of the Month

May 2025

Meet Anahi Gonzalez, our prolific Volunteer of the Month from Toluca, Mexico.

Anahi was introduced to Trufi in a workshop on JOSM (Java OpenStreetMap editor), where she learned to map public transport routes.

But she didn’t stop there. She quickly became a leader, and began teaching the same workshop to students at Autonomous University of the State of Mexico (UAEM) helping new mappers to contribute effectively to the data resource that powers Trufi apps

Her work grew to include improving map accuracy, fixing broken routes, and partnering with local transit officials to verify real-world conditions.

She implemented a system to track and resolve route issues, helping teams collaborate more effectively.

Trufi’s standout young mappers in Colombia, Duitama Mapping Stars took note of a new mapping star rising in Mexico. Trufi’s Leonardo Gutiérrez calls it “positive competition,” adding “it will only push everyone to raise the bar!”

From Urban Planning to Coding: A Volunteer with Vision

Anahi’s professional background is in urban planning, but she’s currently tackling a new challenge: learning to code. Her goal? To build a public transportation app. “It’s proving quite challenging,” she admits. But with her demonstrated work ethic and Trufi open source code, we have no doubt she will succeed.

We’re inspired by Anahi’s initiative, expertise, and willingness to mentor others.
