Hackathon or no Hackathon: Hack on!

Trufi almost made it into the hackathon from more than 1,000 solutions submitted to participate in the #SmartDevelopmentHack being held this week by the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

We made the first cut, but then we learned that we would not be among the 20 teams competing this week to develop solutions to tackle problems created by the COVID-19 pandemic.

And with 35 Trufi team members from 15 countries all interested to dive into these features, we decided to work on the Anti-Covid features anyway. We are especially happy that new faces from Ghana, Uganda, Madagascar and Egypt are joining this effort.

Hack on!

We proposed to  three new features to the Trufi app:

  • Create a driver app that reports traffic and load to the city;
  • Enhance trufi app with features that tell about the current load so that passengers can choose whether to use public transport or not
  • Create a dashboard so that cities identify places where many people are queuing for a free bus.

We will be conducting our #TrufiAppHackathon in parallel with #SmartDevelopmentHack

Follow both hashtags on Twitter and LinkedIn this week. The Hackathon(s) end on May 15, 2020, and we will report on our results.

And be sure to share the best posts from the official hackathon, as well as our hackathon on the side.
